How to measure the success of a project when it can't be measured.
Sometimes the financial success of a project can be long-term and difficult to measure because of other parallel influences. If this is the situation I've found the following approach works well:

The WOW Scale

This is a measure of how excited you are about the project.
When I talk about WOW, I have in mind a combination of ideas like:
  • How excited are people with it?
  • Does it touch head and heart?
  • Are people moved by it?

The Design Scale

This is a measure of how beautiful the project is. 
When I talk about beauty, I have in mind a combination of ideas like:
  • Being of human scale
  • Being elegant, simple and easy to understand
  • Being in balance and harmony with nature

The Worthiness Scale

This is a measure of the worthiness of the project.
When I talk about worthiness, I have in mind a combination of ideas like:
  • Will it make a difference?
  • Is the difference important?
  • Will it make a major improvement?
